About Us

White picket fence with colorful flowers - Big Florida Fencing

There’s a version of this business that cuts corners on post depth, skips the permit, and gets off your property as fast as possible. We’ve seen that version. We’ve repaired the fences it leaves behind.

Big Florida Fencing started 11 years ago with a simple idea: Florida homeowners deserve a fencing contractor who builds fences the way they should be built here: for this climate, these soils, this wind, and this humidity. Not a formula imported from somewhere that doesn’t see a hurricane for decades.

We’ve spent over a decade earning the trust of homeowners across Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Miami, St. Petersburg, Hialeah, Port St. Lucie, and Tallahassee. Every fence we’ve installed has been permitted, concrete-set, and cleaned up after. Every homeowner we’ve worked with has heard the same honest answer to every question, even when the honest answer wasn’t what they were hoping for.

Why We Do Things Differently

Florida is not a forgiving place for fencing. The UV index here regularly hits extreme levels from April through October. The humidity is relentless twelve months a year. Hurricane season runs half the calendar. The soils along the coast are sandy enough to swallow an improperly set post in five years. And Florida has the highest termite pressure of any state in the continental U.S.

Most of what makes a fence fail in Florida comes down to installation shortcuts that are invisible at the time. Posts set too shallow in soil without concrete. Economy vinyl that yellows and becomes brittle because the UV stabilizers weren’t compounded into the material. A pool fence that looks right but doesn’t meet the height or gate hardware requirements under Florida law.

We don’t take those shortcuts. Not because we’re trying to impress you. But because we’ve seen what happens when they’re taken, and it’s not something we want your name attached to ours on.

Every post we set goes 36–42 inches into the ground, surrounded by concrete. Every pool fence installation ends with a passing county inspection, not just our word that it meets code. Every vinyl fence we quote uses products with documented UV stabilization, not whatever was cheapest at the distributor that week.

What Working with Us Looks Like

We start with a free on-site estimate—we come to your property, walk the yard with you, measure everything, and give you a clear written quote. No pressure tactics, no vague per-linear-foot ranges that triple when the invoice arrives.

If your project needs a county permit, we handle the application, the paperwork, and the timeline. It’s included in your project scope as a standard part of the job. If your neighborhood has an HOA with architectural review requirements, we prepare the submittal package—material specification sheets, site diagrams, and color samples—and work through the process with you. Neither of these are extra fees. They’re part of doing the job right.

We pull permits in Hillsborough, Duval, Orange, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Broward, St. Johns, and surrounding counties. If we haven’t worked in your county before, we’ll find out what’s required before we give you a timeline.

When the work is done, we do a full walkthrough with you. We show you what was installed, how it was built, what to watch for down the road, and when maintenance makes sense. Then we clean up completely—all excavated material, packaging, and debris off your property before we leave.

The Work We Do

We install wood fences in every style — privacy, board-on-board, shadowbox, picket, and split rail. We install vinyl and PVC fencing for homeowners who want the privacy without the maintenance. We install aluminum fencing for those who want the ornamental look without the rust. We install chain link for security, containment, and budget-conscious perimeters. And we install pool barriers that meet Florida’s code requirements, because pool fencing isn’t decorative — it’s safety fencing, and it has to be done right.

We also repair fences of every material — storm damage, post rot, leaning sections, sagging gates. We assess every repair honestly. If your fence needs targeted repairs, we’ll repair it. If it’s reached the end of its economic life and replacement makes more sense, we’ll tell you that clearly, with the numbers to show you why.
